About the Artist
Allison Criswell
I am a self-taught watercolor artist who paints from the heart of my everyday world. As a vegetable gardener, homemaker, and resident of the rural countryside, my work emerges from a deep love for the places and moments that quietly shape a meaningful life.
Through my paintings, I seek to evoke a feeling of gentle nostalgia and quiet wonder—the same emotions that arise when you step into a sunlit garden or sit down at a table set for shared bread and conversation. My watercolors carry a soft, glowing light that invites viewers to slow down and feel a sense of warmth, contentment, and reconnection. There is a tender familiarity in the work: a longing for simpler rhythms, the comfort of home, and the peaceful beauty found in ordinary rural days.
I paint to stir a heartfelt appreciation for the small, beautiful details that often go unnoticed—the serenity of morning light on the land, the joy of a well-tended garden, and the emotional richness of creating a welcoming home. My hope is that each piece leaves the viewer with a lingering sense of peace, gratitude, and inspiration to pause in their own life, to truly see and cherish the quiet wonders around them.
