Icelandic Horse Among the Ferns
$216.00
This original watercolor painting was inspired by the subtle color palette of fall; olive greens, warm browns and golden hues. It was an experiment in the play of color and texture with the subtle ferns fading into the distance. I have had a love of horses ever since I was a little girl and the main character of this piece is an adorable Icelandic horse. Her fur is soft and fluffy from the cold. I dream to own one of these horses for their amazing resilience and sweet character.
Did you know that Icelandic culture is passionately intertwined with these horses? There are approximately 1 horse to every 4 people in Iceland. They even have over 100 words to describe the colors and patterns of their horses. Interestingly, farmers will let their horses roam free in the summer so if you see "wild horses" chances are they are not actually wild but registered livestock each with their own tag. The Icelandic horse represents hardiness and friendliness.
